ArmTec Mesh is a woven fibreglass reinforcing mesh treated with an alkali-resistant coating — engineered to strengthen surfaces, bridge movement cracks and reinforce waterproofing membranes, plaster and concrete applications. It acts as a flexible structural skeleton within coating and mortar systems — absorbing movement, distributing stress and preventing the formation of cracks in the layers above and below it.

The mesh is the structural backbone of the SealPro ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System — rolled out across the full substrate surface, embedded with HyperFlex and protected by HydroSeal HF to create a fully reinforced, seamless waterproof membrane. It is equally at home reinforcing plaster on light steel frame walls, bridging cracks in concrete and screed, and strengthening tile adhesion in wet areas and on substrate movement joints.

Because it will not rust, corrode or degrade in alkaline environments, ArmTec Mesh delivers permanent reinforcement — once embedded in a system, it performs for the life of the structure.

Usage

Waterproofing Reinforcement

The reinforcing backbone of the ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System — embedded across the full substrate to absorb movement and bridge cracks beneath the waterproof membrane.

Plaster & Concrete Reinforcement

Embedded in plaster and concrete applications to prevent cracking caused by substrate movement, thermal expansion and structural settlement.

Tiling & Wet Area Reinforcement

Used as an underlayment beneath floor tiles and in wet areas to bridge minor substrate movement and prevent grout or tile cracking over time.

Key Principle

ArmTec Mesh must be completely embedded in the application system layer being reinforced. Overlap each piece by a minimum of 5 cm. Partial embedding reduces tensile performance and leaves the system vulnerable at the overlap points.

Product Overview

THE REINFORCING LAYER THAT MAKES EVERY SYSTEM STRONGER.

ArmTec Mesh performs one essential function — it gives every system it is embedded in a structural skeleton that absorbs movement, bridges cracks and distributes stress evenly across the surface. Without reinforcement, liquid-applied waterproofing membranes, plaster coats and screed systems are vulnerable to the inevitable movement of the structure beneath them. With ArmTec Mesh embedded correctly, that movement is absorbed by the mesh rather than transmitted as a crack through the coating above.

The woven fibreglass construction and alkali-resistant coating make ArmTec Mesh chemically stable in cementitious environments — unlike steel reinforcing mesh, it will never rust, corrode or degrade when embedded in mortar, screed or waterproofing systems. The 5 × 5 mm open mesh structure ensures the embedding product penetrates completely through the mesh for a full mechanical bond — not just surface adhesion.

In the SealPro ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System, the mesh is rolled out across the full substrate surface and embedded with HyperFlex — creating the reinforced base membrane that HydroSeal HF is applied over as the final waterproof topcoat. The mesh also reinforces all critical detail points: corners, turnups and flashings are strengthened by embedding StretchSeal membrane into HydroSeal HF or Flex — the same principle of embedded reinforcement applied at every vulnerable point in the system.

ArmTec Mesh - Alkali-Resistant Fiberglass Reinforcing Mesh

Application tip:

Always overlap each piece of ArmTec Mesh by a minimum of 5 cm at every joint. Roll out and cut the mesh to size before embedding — do not stretch or distort the weave. Press the mesh firmly into the wet embedding product using a trowel or roller to ensure complete penetration through the mesh openings. Allow the embedding layer to dry fully before applying subsequent coats.

KEY BENEFITS

STRONG. STABLE. PERMANENT.

ArmTec Mesh delivers structural reinforcement that performs for the life of the system — chemically resistant, corrosion-free and dimensionally stable under all conditions.

ArmTec coated Fibre Glass Mesh

1/ Prevents Micro-Crack Formation

Acts as a flexible skeleton within the system layer — absorbing substrate movement and thermal expansion that would otherwise transmit as cracks through the coating above.

2/ Alkali-Resistant — Chemically Stable

The alkaline-resistant coating maintains full performance in cementitious environments — mortar, screed, concrete and waterproofing membranes all have high pH and ArmTec Mesh is formulated to withstand them permanently.

3/ Will Not Rust or Corrode

Fibreglass construction delivers permanent reinforcement with zero corrosion risk — in wet, marine and permanently damp environments where steel reinforcing mesh would fail.

4/ Improves Impact Resistance

High tensile strength of 32 kN/m and impact-resistant weave significantly improves the resistance of embedded systems to surface impact, abrasion and point loads.

5/ Dimensional Stability

Good dimensional stability and stiffness means ArmTec Mesh holds its shape during installation — making it easier to achieve an even, consistent embedding depth across the full surface.

6/ Reduces Material Usage

By reinforcing the system layer structurally, ArmTec Mesh reduces the amount of plaster, screed or coating required to achieve the same performance — lowering material cost on every project.

APPLICATION METHODS

How to Apply ArmTec Mesh

Waterproofing Systems — Embed in HyperFlex
Roll out and cut the ArmTec Mesh to size. Overlap each piece by a minimum of 5 cm. Apply HyperFlex evenly over the mesh, pressing it down firmly to ensure complete penetration through the mesh openings and full bonding to the substrate below. Allow to dry before applying HydroSeal HF topcoats.

Plaster & Concrete Reinforcement — Embed While Wet
Apply an even layer of HyperFlex to the surface. While still fresh, lay the ArmTec Mesh onto the surface and press it gently with a trowel so it is embedded in the product layer. Allow to dry. A second layer of the embedding product may be applied if required. Once cured, the system can be plastered or covered with concrete.

Corner & Detail Reinforcement — StretchSeal Membrane
At all corners, turnups, flashings and vulnerable detail points, embed StretchSeal membrane (not ArmTec Mesh) using HydroSeal HF or Flex — apply the product, embed the membrane, apply a second coat to encapsulate. This provides flexible point reinforcement at the most critical areas of any system.

While SealPro makes every effort to ensure that colours shown on this website, match paint colours as closely as possible, variations may occur due to a variety of factors. Always paint a test patch of the selected colour on your wall. For consistency of sheen and colour, always check that paint containers carry the same batch number.

Where ArmTec Mesh Is Used

REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS.

ArmTec Mesh performs across a wide range of construction, waterproofing and reinforcement applications — anywhere a system layer needs structural reinforcement against movement, cracking or impact.

ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System

The structural reinforcing backbone of the SealPro ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System. Rolled out across the full substrate surface — new slabs, torch-on renewal, over tiles, balconies and wet areas — and embedded with HyperFlex before HydroSeal HF is applied as the final waterproof topcoat.

Torch-On Renewal & Waterproofing Repair

Used in the ArmTec HyperFlex Torch-On Renewal system to reinforce the new waterproofing membrane applied over existing torch-on, bitumen and previously sealed substrates — bridging old lap joints, cracks and movement points.

Light Steel Frame Wall Reinforcement

Applied to polystyrene wall panelling fitted within light steel frame structures to provide rigidity and strength before screed or plaster is applied — giving the panels a stable cementitious substrate that will not crack or powder.

Concrete & Plastering Reinforcement

Embedded in concrete and plastering applications to improve tensile strength and prevent cracking — used on substrates with microcracks, in cementitious skim coats and as a general reinforcing layer in plaster finishes on walls and concrete surfaces.

Tiling, Wet Areas & Substrate Movement Joints

Used as a reinforcing underlayment beneath floor tiles and in wet areas — shower floors, bathrooms and kitchens — to bridge minor substrate movement and prevent grout lines or tiles from cracking over time due to structural settlement.

Sports Court Crack Repair & Resurfacing

Used with acrylic resins to lock down existing cracks in tennis, padel and basketball courts — and as a reinforcing base layer between the concrete or asphalt base and the final playing surface, significantly extending court lifespan and reducing maintenance.

TIPS & ADVICE

Common Questions About ArmTec Mesh

ArmTec Mesh is a woven fibreglass reinforcing mesh treated with an alkali-resistant coating. It acts as a flexible structural skeleton within coating and mortar systems — absorbing substrate movement, bridging cracks and preventing the formation of micro-cracks in the layers above and below it. It is the structural backbone of the SealPro ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System and is also used in plaster and concrete reinforcement, light steel frame construction, tiling applications and sports court resurfacing.

What is ArmTec Mesh and what is it used for

In the ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System, roll out the ArmTec Mesh and cut it to size. Overlap each piece by a minimum of 5 cm. Apply HyperFlex directly over the mesh and press it down firmly to ensure complete penetration through the 5 × 5 mm mesh openings and full bonding to the substrate below. Allow the HyperFlex layer to dry completely before applying the first coat of HydroSeal HF. The mesh must be completely embedded — partial embedding reduces tensile performance and leaves the system vulnerable at overlap points.

pply an even layer of HyperFlex to the surface. While the product is still fresh, lay the ArmTec Mesh on the surface and press it gently with a trowel so it is completely embedded in the product layer. Allow to dry. If required, apply a second layer of the product over the embedded mesh. Once cured, the system can be plastered or covered with concrete.

Cementitious materials — concrete, mortar, screed and waterproofing membranes — are highly alkaline environments. Standard fibreglass mesh degrades rapidly when exposed to high pH, losing tensile strength and eventually disintegrating. ArmTec Mesh is treated with a special alkali-resistant coating that protects the fibreglass weave in these environments permanently — ensuring the reinforcement performs for the full service life of the system without deterioration.

Each piece of ArmTec Mesh must overlap the adjacent piece by a minimum of 5 cm. Insufficient overlap creates a gap in the reinforcement at the joint — a potential weak point where cracking can initiate under substrate movement. Always ensure the overlap is fully embedded in the product layer on both sides of the joint.

ArmTec Mesh is a rigid woven fibreglass mesh used to reinforce large surface areas — rolled out across the full substrate and embedded with HyperFlex. StretchSeal membrane is a flexible non-woven fabric used specifically to reinforce critical detail points — corners, turnups, flashings and movement joints — where maximum flexibility and elongation are required. In the ArmTec HyperFlex system, ArmTec Mesh covers the field area and StretchSeal membrane reinforces all the detail points. They are complementary products, not interchangeable.

Yes. ArmTec Mesh is a key component of the ArmTec HyperFlex Torch-On Renewal System — used to reinforce the new waterproofing membrane applied directly over existing torch-on, bitumen and previously sealed substrates. The mesh bridges old lap joints, failing overlaps and movement cracks in the existing system, creating a fully reinforced base for the HydroSeal HF waterproof topcoat above it.

ArmTec Mesh has an unlimited shelf life when stored in a clean, dry environment. The fibreglass and alkali-resistant coating do not degrade in storage. Keep rolls protected from direct sunlight and moisture — a dry, sheltered storage area is sufficient. There is no expiry date and no deterioration in performance over time.
