The system starts at the surface that needs reinforcing. Two substrate types. Two rules.
Concrete or cement — apply Penetrar first. It binds the surface and promotes adhesion. Don't skip it on porous or dusty substrates.
Clean metal — no primer needed. The surface must be clean and rust-free before the first product coat goes on.
The first coat is applied over the prepared substrate. This is the wet bed the membrane is pressed into. Which product you use depends on the application.
HydroSeal HF — used on concrete and cement surfaces. Corners, turnups, flashings, outlets and tile roof ridges. It's the right product where the topcoat system above it is also HydroSeal HF.
Flex — used where more movement is expected. Metal roof joints, torch-on repair zones, settlement cracks and balcony corners. Higher elongation handles ongoing substrate movement without cracking.
While the first coat is still wet, the membrane is laid onto the surface and pressed firmly to remove air pockets and ensure full contact. It's the same membrane across all four systems. What changes is the cut — roll widths for HF and Flex applications, pre-cut strips for RidgeSeal and round patches for ScrewSeal.
A second coat of the same product is applied over the membrane to fully encapsulate it. This is the overcoat. Once dry, a final topcoat covers the whole treated area to complete the system.
HydroSeal HF systems — overcoat with HydroSeal HF, then apply a final HydroSeal HF topcoat over the full area. On tile roof ridges this can be overcoated with a matching roof paint once dry.
Flex systems — overcoat with Flex, then apply the relevant roof topcoat above it. Flex is never a standalone finish coat. It always gets a topcoat over it.
