WHY TORCH-ON KEEPS FAILING — AND HOW TO STOP IT FOR GOOD.
Torch-on waterproofing has been the industry default for decades — but its fundamental design makes long-term performance almost impossible to achieve.
It is applied in overlapping sheets, which means it is never seamless. It is not fully bonded to the slab, which means water that finds a single entry point travels freely across the entire underside of the membrane. And because it requires an open flame for application, terminating the system correctly at PVC outlets and downpipes is physically impossible without burning through the fitting — which is why torch-on systems almost always leak first at the drain.
Derbigum Torch-on systems share every one of these inherent limitations — heavy granular surface, lap-jointed application, and the same vulnerable termination points at every outlet.
The ArmTec HyperFlex system was specifically developed to solve this problem — bonding directly over existing torch-on and Derbigum mineral systems without removal, reinforcing every overlap and joint with the StretchSeal Flex system, and delivering a fully bonded, seamless, water-based membrane that seals every termination point correctly without heat or flame.
