A complete tile-ready waterproofing system for balconies and wet areas — applied directly over existing tiles without removing a single one. The ArmTec HyperFlex system bonds over the existing tile surface, delivers a fully waterproofed substrate, and is finished with UltraBond WP to create a tile-ready surface ready to receive new tiles.

Every layer in this system has a specific purpose — from levelling the existing tile surface with Posi Screed, to priming it with UltraBond WP, to delivering a fully waterproofed and tile-ready substrate without demolition or tile removal.

Waterproofing + Tiling over exsisting tiles surface

1/ Floor Tiles

EXSISTING FLOOR TILES — LEFT IN PLACE - Existing floor tiles stay in place. Only skirting tiles at wall turnups are removed to allow the system to run up the wall.
SKIRTING TILES — REMOVE & CLEAN - Skirting tiles at all wall turnups removed. Full floor tile surface thoroughly cleaned of all dirt, grease and loose material.

2/ Posi Screed

LEVEL & FILL - All grout lines, chips and cavities filled and levelled — creating a smooth, even surface for the system to bond to.

3/ UltraBond WP

PRIME TILES - Applied over the entire tiled surface and exposed wall turnup areas — creates the cementitious bonding layer the ArmTec system adheres to on a non-porous tile substrate.

4/ HyperFlex — Mesh Embedding Agent

EMBED - Applied over the mesh and pressed through to bond directly to the UltraBond WP primed tile surface below.

5/ ARMTEC MESH

REINFORCE - Fibreglass reinforcing mesh rolled out over the full surface — absorbs movement, bridges any residual surface irregularities.

6/ StretchSeal Membrane + Flex

STRENGTHEN TURNUPS & CORNERS - All wall turnups and internal corners reinforced with an embedded flexible membrane — fully encapsulated with two coats of Flex.

7/ HydroSeal HF

WATERPROOF - 2 X COATS - Seamless liquid rubber membrane applied over the entire system once touch-dry and walkable. The second coat completes the seamless waterproof barrier once the first coat is completely dry.

8/ ULTRABOND WP

TILE-READY TOPCOAT - Applied over the fully cured HydroSeal HF — converts the waterproofed surface into a tile-ready substrate. Tiles bond directly onto UltraBond WP with standard tile adhesive.

9/ NEW TILES

TILE - Tiles installed directly onto the cured UltraBond WP surface with standard tile adhesive. No additional primer required.

HOW IT WORKS

FULLY WATERPROOFED. TILE-READY. WITHOUT REMOVING A TILE.

When the waterproofing fails on a balcony or wet area, the conventional solution is to strip the tiles, repair the substrate, waterproof and refile — an expensive, time-consuming and disruptive process. The ArmTec HyperFlex Over-Tile system eliminates every one of those steps. The existing tiles stay in place. UltraBond WP creates the adhesion layer that the system bonds to. The ArmTec mesh reinforces the surface. HydroSeal HF delivers a fully waterproofed membrane. And a final coat of UltraBond WP converts the finished surface into a tile-ready substrate that new tiles bond directly onto with standard tile adhesive — no additional priming required.

Leaking Balcony Waterproofed & Retiled — Residential Balcony

A residential property in Sandton had persistent water ingress through a tiled balcony — the original waterproofing had failed, and water was tracking into the lounge below. Rather than demolishing the existing tiles, the ArmTec HyperFlex over-tile system was installed — existing floor tiles left in place, skirting tiles removed at the turnups, Posi Screed used to level the grout lines, the full system waterproofed with HydroSeal HF and finished with UltraBond WP. New tiles were laid directly onto the tile-ready surface. The balcony was completed in two days with no demolition.

Shower Floor Waterproofed & Retiled — Residential · Wet Area

A bathroom renovation in Pretoria required the shower floor to be properly waterproofed before retiling — the existing tiles were sound but the original waterproofing was non-existent. The ArmTec HyperFlex over-tile system was applied directly over the existing shower floor tiles — UltraBond WP primed the surface, the ArmTec mesh was embedded with HyperFlex, all corners were reinforced with the StretchSeal Flex system kept square for tiling, and the finished surface was coated with UltraBond WP before new tiles were laid. Fully waterproofed from substrate to surface.

Balcony Waterproofing — Commercial · Multi-Unit

A property management company in Centurion needed to waterproof and refile the balconies of twelve units in a residential complex — all showing signs of water ingress into the units below. Stripping and relaying all twelve balconies was not cost-effective. The ArmTec HyperFlex over-tile system was installed across all twelve balconies — existing tiles left in place, the full system waterproofed and finished with UltraBond WP, and new tiles laid on all units. All twelve balconies were completed within the week and are now fully waterproofed and tile-ready for years to come.

Torchon Maintenance

Renew or maintain your current waterproofing system without removing it. The Armtec Renew system has excellent adhesion and can be applied directly over existing waterproofing systems. The Armtec Renew system can be applied directly onto bituminous substrates or existing torchon membrane. Surface will not delaminate when correct application procedures has been adhered to.
