StretchSeal Membrane is a high-strength stitch bond non-woven polyester reinforcement fabric embedded between waterproofing coats to reinforce detail points, bridge cracks and strengthen vulnerable areas in a waterproofing system. Known in South Africa as stitch bond membrane or stitch bond fabric, it is used at corners, turnups, flashings, screwlines, outlets, settlement cracks and movement joints — wherever a waterproofing system is most vulnerable. It is used in the SealPro ArmTec HyperFlex Waterproofing System, the StretchSeal Flex Metal Roof System and the StretchSeal Tile Roof Ridge System.

StretchSeal Membrane is embedded using a three-step method: apply the waterproofing product (HydroSeal HF, Flex or UltraBond WP) over the detail area; while still wet, lay the membrane onto the surface and press firmly to remove all air pockets; apply a second coat of the product over the membrane to fully encapsulate it. Allow to dry before applying subsequent system layers. The membrane must be completely embedded between two product coats — a surface-applied membrane without a second coat will not perform correctly.

Width selection depends on the detail being reinforced. For metal roof screwlines and narrow lap joints, 75 mm or 100 mm is typically sufficient. For settlement cracks, narrow flashings and tile roof ridges, 100 mm to 150 mm works well. For corners, turnups and medium-sized flashings, 200 mm to 300 mm is appropriate. For expansion joints and larger detail areas, 300 mm to 500 mm provides adequate coverage. The 1000 mm width is suitable for full-width reinforcement on narrow sections or wide joints. If in doubt, always use a wider width — more coverage is always better than insufficient coverage at a detail point.

They are two different reinforcement products used at different stages of a waterproofing system. ArmTec Mesh is a rigid woven fibreglass mesh used to reinforce large field areas — rolled out across the full substrate surface and embedded with HyperFlex. StretchSeal Membrane is a flexible non-woven polyester fabric used specifically at critical detail points — corners, joints, flashings, screwlines and outlets — where flexibility and conformability are required. In the ArmTec HyperFlex system, ArmTec Mesh covers the field and StretchSeal Membrane reinforces all the details. They are complementary products, not interchangeable.

StretchSeal Membrane is used with three SealPro products depending on the application. With HydroSeal HF — at corners, turnups and outlets in the ArmTec HyperFlex system and on tile roof ridges. With Flex — over settlement cracks and movement joints on slabs, and over all screwlines, lap joints and overlaps in the StretchSeal Flex Metal Roof System. With UltraBond WP — at detail points in systems where UltraBond WP is the embedding product. All three follow the same three-step embedding method.

Yes. StretchSeal Membrane is a key component of the SealPro StretchSeal Flex Metal Roof System. It is embedded using Flex over all screwlines, lap joints, overlaps, flashings and ridge caps on corrugated, IBR and Kliplok metal roofs — sealing every penetration and movement point before Purple Prime is applied and the full roof topcoat is laid. The 75 mm and 100 mm widths are typically used for screwlines and narrow lap joints on metal roofs.

A minimum overlap of 2 cm is required between adjacent pieces of StretchSeal Membrane. Ensure the overlap is fully embedded in the product layer on both sides of the joint — an unembedded overlap creates a weak point in the reinforcement at exactly the location it is most needed.

Yes. StretchSeal Membrane is used in the ArmTec HyperFlex over-tile and tile-ready waterproofing systems for balconies and wet areas — embedded using Flex at all wall turnups and internal corners. On these systems, no 45° cement corner flashings are installed because corners must remain square for tiling. The StretchSeal Flex system provides the corner reinforcement instead — Flex applied, membrane embedded, second Flex coat to encapsulate — keeping the corner square while fully sealing it.
