Durable Waterproofing for High-Traffic Service Areas

EcoSeal delivered critical waterproofing projects for McDonald’s service areas at Protea Glen, Soweto (238 sqm), Silverlakes, Pretoria (220 sqm), Witbank (227 sqm), Lenasia (76 sqm), and Kempton Park (75 sqm), showcasing our expertise in providing robust, traffic-resistant solutions for commercial roofs using the ArmTec HyperFlex system and PU2D Clearcoat.

Service Area Assessment and Diagnosis: Following refurbishments or new construction at these McDonald’s locations, the service areas housing critical equipment like fans, extractors, and operational systems required durable, traffic-carrying waterproofing. Our inspections identified the need to protect concrete surfaces from water ingress, UV exposure, and heavy foot traffic, with vulnerabilities at cracks, movement joints, outlets, and parapet walls posing risks of leaks and equipment damage.

Remedial Action: Our team thoroughly cleaned all concrete surfaces to ensure a stable base. We applied Penetrar primer to bind dust and enhance adhesion. Cracks, movement joints, full-bore outlets, and parapet walls were reinforced with the StretchSeal Flex waterproofing system for flexible, watertight sealing. The ArmTec HyperFlex system was then installed, creating a seamless, UV-stable membrane capable of withstanding South Africa’s harsh climate. To ensure durability under heavy foot traffic, we applied PU2D Clearcoat, a polyurethane acrylic coating, providing a robust, traffic-resistant finish that protects the underlying system and extends the lifespan of these critical service areas.
