RIDGESEAL STRIPS

Pre-Cut Tile Roof Ridge Waterproofing Membrane

Appearance

White

Weight

80 GSM

Available Size

400mm x 100mm

RidgeSeal Strips are pre-cut StretchSeal Membrane strips manufactured and packaged specifically for the SealPro RidgeSeal Waterproofing System. Each strip measures 100mm wide by 400mm long. They come in packets of 50 strips, ready to use straight out of the packet. No measuring. No cutting. No waste.

The 100 × 400mm dimension wasn't picked randomly. It was developed to match the exact geometry of standard tile roof ridges. The 100mm width covers both the cement filling section between overlapping ridge tiles and the base cement filling between the ridge tile and the row of roof tiles below. The 400mm length spans across the ridge tile overlap with enough material to overlap with the next strip.

RidgeSeal Strips are sold for use in the RidgeSeal system on tile roof ridges. For all other waterproofing detail reinforcement applications, the standard StretchSeal Membrane on rolls is the correct product.

Usage

Tile Roof Ridges

Embedded with HydroSeal HF along the full length of cement tile roof ridges as the structural reinforcing membrane in the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System.

Overlap Sections

Applied over the cement filling between overlapping ridge tiles. The 100mm width matches the standard ridge overlap geometry exactly.

Ridge Base Filling

Applied over the base cement filling where ridge tiles sit on the row of roof tiles below. Strengthens and waterproofs the joint completely.

DIY & Professional

Designed to be used straight out of the packet. No specialist tools, no cutting, no measuring. Suitable for DIY homeowners and professional contractors alike.

Built for the RidgeSeal System

RidgeSeal Strips secure the cement in place — even when it cracks again. Any future cracking happens behind the membrane, not through it. The system accommodates the small amount of movement that always happens on a tile roof without breaking the waterproof seal above it.

Product Overview

THE PRE-CUT MEMBRANE THAT MAKES RIDGE WATERPROOFING SIMPLE.

Roll-format reinforcement membrane works for almost every waterproofing detail, but tile roof ridges have a specific repeating geometry. Every overlap between ridge tiles is roughly the same size. Every base section is roughly the same width. Cutting strips on a roof to fit each one is slow, wasteful and easy to get wrong. That's the problem RidgeSeal Strips solve.

Each strip is the right size for the job. The 100mm width covers both the overlap section and the base filling section in one piece. The 400mm length spans the ridge with material to spare for the next overlap. You open the packet, embed the strips and move on. No tape measure, no cutting blade, no wastage.

The same SealPro 80 GSM stitch bond non-woven polyester used in StretchSeal Membrane on rolls. The same high-tensile reinforcement. The same flexibility and conformability. Just pre-cut to the dimensions that work for tile roof ridges every time.

RidgeSeal Membrane Strips

Application tip:

Overlap each strip with the next by between 3cm and 5cm. Apply the strip across the ridge so each one covers both the overlap cement and the base filling section in a single piece. Press firmly into the wet HydroSeal HF base coat to remove all air pockets. Encapsulate with a second coat of HydroSeal HF before the final topcoat goes on.

GETTING STARTED

COLOUR & APPLICATION

APPLICATION METHODS

Three-Step Embed Method

Step 1 — Apply HydroSeal HF over the prepared ridge section as the wet base coat.

Step 2 — Take a RidgeSeal Strip from the packet. Lay it across the ridge to cover both the overlap section and the base filling. Press firmly to embed and remove all air pockets.

Step 3 — Overlap the next strip by 3cm to 5cm and continue along the ridge. Apply a second coat of HydroSeal HF over all embedded strips to fully encapsulate them.

No tools needed beyond a brush and the standard RidgeSeal system products.

While SealPro makes every effort to ensure that colours shown on this website, match paint colours as closely as possible, variations may occur due to a variety of factors. Always paint a test patch of the selected colour on your wall. For consistency of sheen and colour, always check that paint containers carry the same batch number.

WHERE RIDGESEAL STRIPS ARE USED

REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS.

RidgeSeal Strips are designed and sold for one specific purpose — the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System on tile roof ridges. They cover the specific ridge geometry that comes up repeatedly across residential, institutional and complex tile roof projects.

Residential Cement Tile Ridge Repair

A homeowner had been patching the same ridge sections for three years running. Every summer the cracks came back in the same places and water was tracking through at the ridge base into the ceiling below. The RidgeSeal system was installed — all cracked cement raked out, every gap filled with Posi Screed, Penetrar applied and RidgeSeal Strips embedded in HydroSeal HF across the full ridge. The ridges were finished with roof paint to match the existing tiles. That was two rainy seasons ago. The ceiling has been dry since.

Hospital Cement Tile Ridge Repair

A hospital facility had extensive ridge failure across several wings of a large cement tile roof. Water ingress through the ridges was causing ceiling damage in occupied wards and treatment areas — a situation that couldn't be left unresolved. The RidgeSeal system was specified for all affected ridge runs. Each ridge was cleared, filled completely with Posi Screed and treated with Penetrar before RidgeSeal Strips were embedded in HydroSeal HF across every ridge run. Work was completed wing by wing to minimise disruption to the facility. No water calls from the treated ridges have been recorded since.

Residential Complex Roof Ridge Repair

Residential Complex Roof Ridge Repair

A residential complex had multiple buildings with extensive ridge failure across shared rooflines. Cracked and open ridge sections had been leaking into several units and the body corporate needed a permanent solution rather than continued emergency repairs. The RidgeSeal system was installed across all affected buildings — ridge by ridge, Posi Screed filling every gap and base section, Penetrar applied and RidgeSeal Strips embedded in HydroSeal HF. The full complex roofs were finished with matching roof paint. The body corporate has had no further ridge-related maintenance calls since the installation.

TIPS & ADVICE

Common Questions About StretchSeal Membrane

Everything you need to know about choosing the right width, embedding correctly and getting the best performance from StretchSeal Membrane.

RidgeSeal Strips are pre-cut StretchSeal Membrane strips, 100mm wide by 400mm long, manufactured specifically for the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System. They're sold in packets of 50 strips and are the dedicated reinforcing membrane component used to waterproof tile roof ridges. The strips are ready to use straight out of the packet. No measuring, no cutting, no waste.

What are RidgeSeal Strips

Standard cement ridge tiles overlap each other approximately every 35cm. To properly waterproof both the cement overlap sections between ridge tiles and the underside cement filling between ridge tiles and roof tiles, you'll use approximately 3 strips per ridge tile. That works out to around 9 strips per linear metre of ridge with the recommended overlap between strips. One packet of 50 strips therefore covers approximately 5.6 linear metres of ridge.

So:
3 x strips per roof ridge or
9 strips per linear metres of ridges

RidgeSeal Strips are embedded between two coats of HydroSeal HF using the three-step embed method. Apply a base coat of HydroSeal HF over the prepared ridge section. While still wet, lay the RidgeSeal Strip into the wet coating and press firmly from centre outward to remove all air pockets. Continue along the ridge with each strip overlapping the previous one by 3cm to 5cm. Apply a second coat of HydroSeal HF over all embedded strips to fully encapsulate them. Allow to dry before the final HydroSeal HF topcoat is applied.

Penetrar is applied to the Posi Screed filled ridge sections before the HydroSeal HF base coat. It strengthens and smooths the filled surface and promotes adhesion. The RidgeSeal Strip itself doesn't need a separate primer. It embeds directly into the wet HydroSeal HF base coat that goes on after Penetrar has dried.

The dimensions were developed to match standard tile roof ridge geometry. The 100mm width is big enough to cover both the cement filling section between overlapping ridge tiles and the base cement filling between the ridge tile and the row of roof tiles below. The 400mm length spans a ridge tile with material to spare for the overlap with the next strip. The strip secures the cement in place. Even if cracks form later, they form behind the membrane rather than through it, which means the waterproof system above keeps performing and accommodates the small amount of movement without damage.

RidgeSeal Strips are manufactured and packaged specifically for the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System on tile roof ridges. For all other waterproofing detail reinforcement applications — corners, turnups, flashings, screwlines, metal roof joints and so on — the standard StretchSeal Membrane on rolls is the correct product. It comes in eight widths from 75mm to 1000mm and can be cut to fit any application.

Yes. The strips are designed to be used straight out of the packet. No measuring, no cutting and no specialist tools needed beyond the standard brush used for HydroSeal HF application. Anyone comfortable working safely at height on a tile roof can apply them following the RidgeSeal System method. The three-step embed method is straightforward.

Each packet contains 50 RidgeSeal Strips, individually flat-packed. The strips have an unlimited shelf life when stored in a clean, dry environment out of direct sunlight. There's no expiry date and no deterioration in storage. Buy what you need and store the rest indefinitely for future projects or maintenance work.
