RidgeSeal Strips are pre-cut StretchSeal Membrane strips, 100mm wide by 400mm long, manufactured specifically for the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System. They're sold in packets of 50 strips and are the dedicated reinforcing membrane component used to waterproof tile roof ridges. The strips are ready to use straight out of the packet. No measuring, no cutting, no waste.

Standard cement ridge tiles overlap each other approximately every 35cm. To properly waterproof both the cement overlap sections between ridge tiles and the underside cement filling between ridge tiles and roof tiles, you'll use approximately 3 strips per ridge tile. That works out to around 9 strips per linear metre of ridge with the recommended overlap between strips. One packet of 50 strips therefore covers approximately 5.6 linear metres of ridge.
So:
3 x strips per roof ridge or
9 strips per linear metres of ridges

RidgeSeal Strips are embedded between two coats of HydroSeal HF using the three-step embed method. Apply a base coat of HydroSeal HF over the prepared ridge section. While still wet, lay the RidgeSeal Strip into the wet coating and press firmly from centre outward to remove all air pockets. Continue along the ridge with each strip overlapping the previous one by 3cm to 5cm. Apply a second coat of HydroSeal HF over all embedded strips to fully encapsulate them. Allow to dry before the final HydroSeal HF topcoat is applied.

Penetrar is applied to the Posi Screed filled ridge sections before the HydroSeal HF base coat. It strengthens and smooths the filled surface and promotes adhesion. The RidgeSeal Strip itself doesn't need a separate primer. It embeds directly into the wet HydroSeal HF base coat that goes on after Penetrar has dried.

The dimensions were developed to match standard tile roof ridge geometry. The 100mm width is big enough to cover both the cement filling section between overlapping ridge tiles and the base cement filling between the ridge tile and the row of roof tiles below. The 400mm length spans a ridge tile with material to spare for the overlap with the next strip. The strip secures the cement in place. Even if cracks form later, they form behind the membrane rather than through it, which means the waterproof system above keeps performing and accommodates the small amount of movement without damage.

RidgeSeal Strips are manufactured and packaged specifically for the RidgeSeal Waterproofing System on tile roof ridges. For all other waterproofing detail reinforcement applications — corners, turnups, flashings, screwlines, metal roof joints and so on — the standard StretchSeal Membrane on rolls is the correct product. It comes in eight widths from 75mm to 1000mm and can be cut to fit any application.

Yes. The strips are designed to be used straight out of the packet. No measuring, no cutting and no specialist tools needed beyond the standard brush used for HydroSeal HF application. Anyone comfortable working safely at height on a tile roof can apply them following the RidgeSeal System method. The three-step embed method is straightforward.

Each packet contains 50 RidgeSeal Strips, individually flat-packed. The strips have an unlimited shelf life when stored in a clean, dry environment out of direct sunlight. There's no expiry date and no deterioration in storage. Buy what you need and store the rest indefinitely for future projects or maintenance work.
